We checked some software and website development tutorials, videos, animations and then suddenly we ran into Google's Favicon Contest. Oh how fun, even though there was no monetary prize. =)

By the way, if you haven't noticed Google has changed its little browser icon (aka favicon) to a lowercase "G". Some of us thought it was okay but I didn't like it at all. We then read and understood Google's vision and decided that they still had a long way to go. (No wonder they launched a contest). We looked over their requirements and decided to give it a shot. So I sat down and started thinking about what would instantly make me think of Google if I saw it on a mobile, or desktop, or some other application.

We then decided that the "G" must remain capital. It's so important! It's the first letter and format of the company logo. Who designs an icon using one of the letters in the middle of a company name? Imagine our logo looking like a lowercase "n"...Yeah, that makes sense! Clearly tells me that it's from Six Carbon and not from Norton. So anyway, we came up with an icon which we felt has room for improvement and remains classy, fun, and appealing. Plus, I won't have to announce on the world explaining the thought process behind it. Users will recognize it instantly. Want to see what Six Carbon came up with? Click here to see one of Google's favicons created by Six Carbon Technologies.

Your feedback is appreciated!

JAVA, here we come!

Finally, I have some time to sit down and write on our own blog. It's been a struggling 3 months for Six Carbon - trying to set our benchmark in the vast world of Information Technology. For first time visitors, let me tell you that our current programming work consists of PHP development and now we're transitioning into developing web and desktop applications in Java! Boy are we excited about it.

Java is a technology that every IT professional wants to learn and excel in. It's stable, advanced, powerful but most importantly, it's secure. I think my team is going to have a fun time with it.

Ciao,

Sumeet Chordia

www.sixcarbon.com
